The Brazilian legend Pele managed to net 77 goals in 97 appearances for the Brazilian national team whiles Messi’s hat-trick against Bolivia sees him break the record by scoring 80 goals in 153 appearances for Argentina National team.

Messi is also his country’s all-time leading scorer, having moved past Gabriel Batistuta (54 goals) in 2016. He is also Argentina’s most capped player, with Thursday’s match against Bolivia marking his 153rd international appearance.
